May 2, 2024 — The Coppell Gazette reports that the Coppell High School debate team has won an all-expenses-paid trip to the International Public Policy Forum (IPPF) finals in New York City.

SunHee Simon, Coppell debate coach, said she is not surprised by her team’s success thus far.
“They work really hard, it was very easy coaching them, because they have the initiative and desire to do really well,” Simon said. “These are probably going to be some of the few people who are going to lead the country in the future.”
Members of the team said they did not expect to advance this far in the competition but feel well-prepared for the challenge of competing at a national level.
Coppell debater Tvisha Jindal said her friends from Grand Oaks High School in Spring, Texas, qualified for the finals as well. She mentioned that the team feels a “Texas solidarity with them” and looks forward to the friendly competition.
